Lipstick on a Silver pig

Well, I had my first Silver Line ("Bus Rapid Transit"™) experience last weekend, going to the Plaza Theater in the South End (motto: "You Can't Get There from Here"). I'm sure you'll be shocked, just shocked to hear this:

  • It's a bus.
  • Not "rapid" at all.
  • Barely "transit" at all, actually.

Now, why in the world would people think the T isn't being honest with them?

And in the world of Mind-Bending Arithmetical Stunts:

Joe Pesaturo, an MBTA spokesman, said ridership has doubled on the Silver Line since it opened...

Well, considering they probably started at zero, that sounds about right.

By the way, here's Ross Mair's continuing Silver Line Tome of Woe at BadTransit.
