The NUCULAR option

Since this so-called "nuclear option" (changing Senate rules to disallow filibusters on judicial nominees) is all about President Bush being able to ram through his most extreme picks for federal judgeships, it seems to me that it should be renamed what the President himself would call it: the nucular option.

Lots of news on the nucular option today: Howard Bashman reports that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) publicly stated his opposition to changing the Senate's rules.  Elsewhere, C&L points to a Hill report that Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) has assured the wingnuts that majority leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) is committed to going nucular.
