Money talks, Part III: Now it's time for the breakdown

Well, it's all over but the voting, but just for kicks, here are some finance calculations from Dave from the medfordmass Yahoo group:

Here's some totals from the data I gathered, without comment, without
judgement, just to think about...

22/96 from in-district

Dave didn't run them, and I don't know his methodology offhand...

Here's my version of the Casey numbers

Contributions to Casey (Casey has filed 437 contributions, none from self):
Medford: 21 contributions totalling $930
Winchester: 133 contributions totalling $15,085
Woburn: 9 totalling $800
Somerville: 8 totalling $375
171/437 in-district

Dave searched candidates names at the link also provided in Part II here ("Spying on your neighbors"), then he pasted all the results into an excel sheet, where he could sort by city. (That's what I gathered in follow-up e-mail with him, anyway.)

At the time he did the search, Dave didn't realize that the itemization of Callahan receipts doesn't go past mid-May or so. So the city breakdown for Callahan doesn't come close to his actual contributions received.

Oh, and by the way, the Callahan numbers shown above are just for 4/13 to 5/14. There's some screwup in the reporting system, probably related to the fact that Callahan uses a different method for reporting his Governor's Council reports.

Hi,

I'm "Dave". I was camping on the Cape all week, so I didn't get to explain myself.

My methodology was to search the Office of Finance and Whatever database for
Date of donation: in 2005
Candidate: Mackey or Jehlen or Callahan (I didn't take Casey seriously enough to look it up)
Town / City of donator: Medford or Somerville or Winchester or Woburn

I was able to cut and paste the data from the website (in Firefox) into OpenOffice.org's Spreadsheet program, then I could sum up the contributions.
