Osama Still at Large

Just a quick reminder that more than four years after the bloodiest day in U.S. history since Antietam, and the worst attack on our country by foreigners since Pearl Harbor, the person who planned, financed and celebrated that assault is still at large. Catching and punishing him is not a priority for the adminisration. "You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you," Bush reported in 2002. The irresponsibility and incompetence of this Republican administration are an insult to the victims of 9/11 and a danger to America.

The way the post-9/11 anger at OBL diffused to the Islamic world more generally is crazy. All Islamics, in the new equation, are terrorists, all terrorists Islamic. Nabbing bin Laden becomes almost beside the point.

Besides, we're too busy torturing people to hunt for the real killers.

Is there any evidence that OBL is not dead? It seems like an awfully long time since he made an appearance. I'm inclined to suspect that he died a year or two ago, but we haven't been told because is unverifiable and it's a useful fiction that he is still out there somewhere.
